The Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic will play Game 1 of their first-round playoff series in Ohio on Saturday afternoon.
The Cavaliers had a great start to the game, highlighted by a huge dunk by All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell that received a lot of attention on social media.
In his first 13 minutes of action, Mitchell scored 12 points, grabbed one board, dished out three assists, and had two steals while shooting 5/8 from the field and 2/4 from three.
From the NBA: “Mitchell picks up the loose ball and hammers it home for 10 in the 1st quarter”
In 55 games, Mitchell averaged 26.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.8 steals while shooting 46.2% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range. It was another fantastic season for Mitchell.
With a 48-34 record, the Cavs received the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference.
They just finished a season in which they were the fourth seed and fell in five games to the New York Knicks in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Magic haven’t made it to the playoffs since the 2020 campaign, when Aaron Gordon was still a member of the team.
With a 47-35 record at the end of the regular season, they were the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
The series’ second game is scheduled for Monday night (again in Ohio).
The Magic have played 41 games away from home, going 18-23, while the Cavs have gone 26-15 at home.
