Breaking News: Veteran Key Player on loan from Barnsley FC, discusses his future with Championship’s Rotherham United

Jamie McCart, a defender on loan from Barnsley, says he is still flexible about his future plans. At the conclusion of the current season, the defender is expected to return to parent club Rotherham United.
The Scottish player, who joined Oakwell during the summer transfer window on a season-long loan, has had a generally good experience, making 29 appearances so far for Neill Collins’s League One promotion-chasing team.

The agreement that saw him relocate to Barnsley at the end of August across the Dearne Valley did not include a recall mechanism for the following year.
Last semester, his first English football season was a little more uneventful. He joined the Millers in the summer of 2022 after leaving St Johnstone, but injury concerns kept him from having an impact.
The 26-year-old was on loan at Leyton Orient for the latter part of the previous season.
McCart acknowledges that, despite having a contract with Rotherham until the end of the following season, he is really unclear about his future.

“To be honest, I have no idea,” he said. I believe I will be returning to Rotherham in the summer since I still have a year left on my contract there.”However, my whole attention is on finishing the work and promoting Barnsley.”

“Definitely,” he replied when asked if he was open-minded about his future. There hasn’t been much communication from Rotherham; perhaps a little flurry at the beginning of January. Apart from that, though, not much has happened.

Six league games remain, after which there may be play-offs, or something else entirely.

“The main goal is to get a promotion, so it’s a really good opportunity to get some more games in and impress everyone here.”

The Reds’ manager, Neill Collins, has disclosed no new injury concerns for the team’s trip to Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Robbie Cundy missed Monday’s match at Burton Albion due to a minor hamstring strain, thus it is doubtful that he will play.

Collins stated: “Everything is (mostly) OK right now.

“Robbie had a minor hamstring strain, but he was supposed to play on Monday at Burton.

The situation is still developing, so it’s possible he won’t return in time.

“Everything else is good, aside from that.”
