Shocking: Buffalo Bills Held Private Workout With Top Wide Receiver Prospect

The Bills have been working out a number of the best wide outs that are eligible for the draft because they are in serious need of depth at wide receiver. Will they have to trade up or will one come to them?

The Bills are reportedly researching South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette, who was one of the highlights of this year’s combine, with only hours till the NFL Draft.

The first-round prospect from South Carolina, Ryan Talbot of Syracuse.com, tweeted that NFL Insider Tom Pelissero had revealed the Bills had a private workout with him. The wide receiver class of this year is regarded as one of the best in recent memory.
In the weeks preceding the draft, the Bills have held meetings with a number of different wide receivers. Many draft experts anticipate that, especially in light of the departure of the team’s primary receivers, Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, they will choose a pass-catcher with their first-round choice, 28th overall, in order to support Josh Allen.

Legette had a stellar 2023 season, going 71-1255-7 TD, throughout his 53 games played, 32 of which he started during his time at South Carolina.

Scouts were treated to a demonstration of the wide receiver’s athleticism as he received an exceptional Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of 9.92, ranking him 24th among receivers since the RAS system’s inception in 1987. Legette is one of the most talked-about prospects of the combine thanks to his mix of size and explosiveness.
Legette’s 4.39-second 40-yard sprint performance and 40-inch vertical jump, which placed him sixth among wide receivers, cemented his status as a top-tier round one draft prospect.

Though Legette didn’t show up on the stat sheet until later in his collegiate career, as a senior, he now possesses a frame and ball skills fit for the NFL. He was deployed all over the field by South Carolina, who also discovered methods to get the ball to him. He performed really well in his primary position as an outside receiver with vertical duties.

A lot of clubs that are desperate for receivers want Legette. He recently disclosed to the Draft Network that he “totally made 14 visits.” I haven’t spent much time at home. I attended games for the following teams: San Francisco, Detroit, Baltimore, Indianapolis, Green Bay, the Broncos, Pittsburgh, Chiefs, Chargers, Buccaneers, Jaguars, and Eagles. I’ve kind of gone everywhere, hehe.”

If Leggett was still on the board when the Bills selected at the 28th pick, they would be pleased.
