Breaking News: “Cowboys Concluded Agreement With Former All-Pro Star with $90 Million Contract”

The Dallas Cowboys seem to be getting close to a possible reunion with Ezekiel Elliott, despite not choosing a running back in the 2024 NFL selection. The Cowboys’ desire in having Elliott back to Dallas keeps making headlines. It is becoming “more and more likely,” according to ESPN’s Todd Archer, that Elliott will have a star on his helmet for the next season.

In an article published on April 27, 2024, under the headline “Cowboys closer to Ezekiel Elliott reunion amid RB shortage,” Archer stated, “The Dallas Cowboys have yet to fill their running back need, but the return of Ezekiel Elliott looks more and more likely.”

Elliott, a Dallas player from 2016 to 2022, has shown interest in playing for the Cowboys, however owner and general manager Jerry Jones would not claim the team had a deal with Elliott.

Archer said, “Earlier this week, the Cowboys met with Elliott and his agent, Rocky Arceneaux, to discuss a potential reunion.” The Cowboys were hosting a scouts’ dinner at Dee Lincoln Prime, which Elliott and Arceneaux just so happened to visit.

Elliott’s six-year, $90 million deal with the Cowboys, which he signed before being released in 2023, is already gone. During the previous offseason, the veteran signed a $3 million, one-year contract with the New England Patriots.

Elliott has an outstanding resume as a former All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler. In 17 games in 2023, Elliott recorded 184 carries for 642 yards and 3 touchdowns—the lowest total of his career.

The seasoned player had extensive use in the passing game, recording 51 grabs for 313 receiving yards and two aerial touchdowns. Elliott’s passing game statistics were at their highest point since 2020.

It is anticipated by supporters that Elliott would sign a contract more akin to this one than the rich one the former All-Pro held with Dallas. What the Cowboys would get from Elliott during his second trip in Big D is the question.

Owner Jerry Jones done little to deny the growing allegations about Elliott following the NFL draft. Jones said that Elliott would be a great addition “anytime” and that there was no set schedule for his arrival.

During a news conference on April 27, Jones responded, “He’s a positive influence at all times, at all times,” when questioned about a possible timing for an Elliott signing. “As a person and a teammate with the Dallas Cowboys, he has never once been anything but a good and winning impact, even during some of the most trying times for him and other situations.

That makes him very advantageous. He is therefore a lift whenever [possible timing] it comes to the question of what, when, or what to do with him around. In that regard, he excels,” Jones went on.

“Listen, I’m not sure what we’re touching on here in terms of the regulations, so I don’t want to get into that [timeline]. The fact remains, nevertheless, that he is a positive. He may perhaps be beneficial to this team, in my opinion.
