The NFL Draft and FSU football are a match made in heaven. Since the first players were selected in 1951, the Noles have had an absurd amount of players selected in the draft.
Up until this past weekend, though, the trend of FSU players going to the NFL has declined over the previous few years. One Noles player was selected in the 2022 and 2023 drafts. But, FSU supporters were aware that something might change in the 2024 NFL Draft. Some players returned to Tallahassee in hopes of winning a title, even though they could have departed after the 2022 season and been chosen. They won the first ACC championship since 2014 and went unbeaten, so of course we know they were denied the chance.
Some others attempted to cast doubt on the team’s quality, but that fallacious narrative was dispelled over the weekend when FSU had ten players selected in the top 100, including six choices. The favorable tidings? There is more potential on the roster, so it wasn’t an isolated incident, and the Noles may have another strong showing in the 2025 NFL Draft. These 15 Noles have a chance to be selected in the draft the next year.
Ten players from FSU football were taken in the 2024 NFL Draft, with six of them ranking in the top 100. Braden Fiske, Keon Coleman, and Jared Verse were all chosen in the top 40, as was to be expected in the first few selections. At the conclusion of the second round, Renardo Green heard his name called. Trey Benson and Jarrian Jones then joined the celebration in the third round, which brought the Friday night to a close. Though it took longer than anticipated on Saturday, the names of Tatum Bethune, Johnny Wilson, Jaheim Bell, and Jordan Travis were called in the fifth, sixth, and seventh rounds, respectively. This is the most number of FSU players selected since the NFL Draft in 2015. That much is true for the media and detractors who claimed that FSU couldn’t succeed without Jordan Travis at quarterback.
The coaching staff, led by Mike Norvell, has done an incredible job reestablishing the program’s prominence. They are unparalleled in their ability to both recognize and nurture potential. Many people want to use the high school rankings to judge a team’s talent, but that’s a bad method. After high school, Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Renardo Green, Jordan Travis, and Tatum Bethune weren’t considered elite athletes. Three years ago, no one believed Jordan Travis could play quarterback, and Verse and Fiske only received one offer. The coaching team has mastered the formula for evaluating talent, but it involves more than just measuring height, weight, and speed. The 2024 NFL Draft will have a significant impact on whether or not FSU competes at the top levels of the sport in the future. Following an ACC championship and its first perfect regular season since 2014, FSU football aims to send the most number of players to the 2024 NFL Draft since the 2015 campaign. Many players from FSU declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, and a few of them were invited to the NFL Combine, where they lit up the stage with numerous incredible performances to boost their draft stock.
