Cole Bishop of Utah was selected as one of the top safeties in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Buffalo Bills chose Bishop with choice No. 60 in the second round.
Recently, NFL expert Greg Cosell spoke about what a great choice that was during an appearance on the “Ross Tucker Podcast.”
He seems like one of the class’s better safety prospects in my opinion.I believed he was a backend player. I believed he could be a box player. The Bills drafting him didn’t surprise me,” Cosell remarked.
This summer, the Bills made some very significant decisions by cutting both of their All-Pro safeties, Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer.
It was obvious they were in great need at that point.
Bishop was an All-Pac-12 performer, so general manager Brandon Beane made a wise decision.
He recorded around 200 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 3 interceptions, and 12 pass breakups during his time in college.
He made 29 starts and established himself as a key member of one of the nation’s top defenses.
He will now face a Buffalo defense that is undergoing a major reconstruction.
They severed connections with Hyde and Poyer once more.
Tre’Davious White, a former Pro Bowl cornerback, was also let go.
For defensive backs coach Sean McDermott and head coach Beane, it’s a new era.
Cole Bishop, the rookie, will lead the way in this new chapter.
This Bills defense should still be excellent in 2024 with veterans Von Miller, Ed Oliver, Matt Milano, Rasul Douglas, and Greg Rousseau still playing.
