It was unexpected for the 39-year-old to lose his job with the Yorkshire team because he had received recognition for his efforts with the Tigers.
This may now serve as a warning to other teams in the second tier and pave the way for other management changes.
Rosenior’s replacement at the MKM Stadium is still up in the air, although an announcement is anticipated shortly.
But Rosenior himself would undoubtedly want to return to management as soon as possible in order to take advantage of the summer transfer window and establish himself at his new team.
Carlton Palmer expressed his surprise at Rosenior’s dismissal by Hull and likened it to Birmingham City’s decision to fire John Eustace in October of last year.
He has cautioned Acun Ilicali, the team’s owner, to be careful what he wants for because this choice may have comparable effects on his group.
Palmer told Football League World, “He’s now available, which is good news for any Championship club after the shocking departure of Liam Rosenior.”
“As we’ve already saw this season, Birmingham City fired John Eustace, which was another absurd choice.
“I believe that was somewhat regrettable. Sadly for the Birmingham owners, Eustace went on to perform admirably when they were sixth in the table. I believe they signed Wayne Rooney and were unable to get rid of him in the summer.
However, they gave their everything to Wayne Ronney, and everything went wrong.
“They were demoted in the end, and isn’t it ironic that Birmingham City was demoted and John Eustace’s Blackburn defeated Leicester on the final day of the season to maintain their place in the Championship?
“Therefore, exercise caution when making wishes.”
Palmer thinks Sunderland would be the best place for the coach to go if he wants to get back to the Championship right away.
He said, “As I said, I think it’s a really shocking decision that Liam Rosenior lost his job, so he’s now available on a free.”
And Liam Rosenior will undoubtedly be viewed by several teams; he will, I believe, immediately look for another Championship club.
“The Sunderland job is the first that instantly comes to mind.
There are many young players for Sunderland, and Liam is eager to develop and work with them.
“As I mentioned before, the main problem will be the club’s mindset on hiring new employees and dealing with experienced players—you have to strike the appropriate balance.
“At the present, Sunderland’s strategy is to get young players for little cost, play them, help them grow, and then sell them for high price.
“However, a manager aspires to take over and succeed; Sunderland has a strong team core.
With a few signings, maybe a combination of young and experienced players, they might challenge for the playoffs the following year.
“So, if they could get Liam Rosenior over the line, that would be a very, very good appointment at Sunderland.”
Rosenior now has a track record of achieving these kinds of outcomes.
Even though Hull just lost out on a play-off spot, he did a good job of guiding the squad from a struggle for relegation to one for a top six finish.
He would be a very good addition to Sunderland and fit in nicely behind the scenes as their current model as well.
He is perfect for the Black Cats because of his work at Derby County, where he shown that he is more than ready to work with and develop younger players while still producing excellent results.
