Last week, Norwich’s season came to an abrupt end as Leeds United eliminated them from the Championship play-offs. Batth did not play in either of the two matches as the Canaries lost 4-0 away from home after drawing 0-0 at home.
Now that the club has released their retained list, it is official that Batth will be going when his contract expires this summer. Thank you, Norwich, Batth wrote in an X post.
“Playing for the club has been an honor, and I am grateful for all of your support this year! After making it to the play-offs, we ultimately lost, but it has been a novel experience, and I’m excited for what comes next.
Having spent four different loan periods in Yorkshire, the 33-year-old is a well-known figure there. He then joined Sheffield Wednesday, and in 2012, he was a member of the Owls team that won promotion from League One.
He’d spent a short time on the red side of the city before, playing just one game for Sheffield United. He was loaned out by Wolves to Middlesbrough during the 2018–19 season, which was his most recent stint in Yorkshire.
In September 2023, Norwich signed Batth as a one-year contract defender to bring some experience to their defensive line. Having made a total of 18 appearances for the club, he will be leaving this summer.
