Did anyone trust the Dallas Cowboys front management when they said they would go all in this season, as I did? However, they took two actions yesterday in place of doing that and delaying the re-signing of Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb!
They signed linebacker Willie Harvey and defensive back Gareon Conley after returning to the UFL.
Everything is good and nice.
Is anybody shocked that they chose to stay inexpensive and attempt to bring these men in with the hopes that both turn out like KaVontae Turpin and Brandon Aubury? The exact figures on what they spent for these two individuals and for how long have not been made public.
As previously said, Aubury, the Cowboys’ new kicker, is perhaps the greatest in the league, and Turpin, the Swiss Army Knife, has developed into one of the finest return ers in the league, but we can’t expect Harvey and Conley to carry this club to the championship.
Although he was an All-UFL selection and will provide assistance in the linebacker room, the Cowboys are not adding prime Ray Lewis to their roster.
Who knows whether he will even make the 53-man roster in the end?
Regarding Conley, he was selected in the first round of the 2017 Raiders draft and currently plays in the UFL for the D.C. Defenders.
After playing with the Raiders for two complete seasons, he was traded to the Texans in the 2019 season.
He hasn’t participated in an NFL game in four seasons after finding himself on injured reserve in September 2020 and missing the whole season.
Perhaps Jerry Jones was finally awakened by all the noise following a humiliating playoff home defeat to the Green Bay Packers.
It seems like the Cowboys were expected to have a significant impact on free agency, don’t they?
Nope.
They make movements like this work and attempt to be as inexpensive as possible.
Although it has been successful for them over the past two years, this isn’t Derrick Henry or someone like who was waiting for them to sign.
They could have made the cap space if they had wanted to, but they chose not to. Their two top players still haven’t even signed contract extensions.
They decline to make purchases.
Dorance Armstrong, Tony Pollard, Tyler Biasasz, and more players are gone from this team.
It makes me wonder: How recently has this front staff signed a major player for the offseason?
They acquired Greg Hardy and Darren McFadden in exchange for Amari Cooper, who hasn’t signed. You would assume that a club that ought to be contending for a championship each year would want to improve.
Like everyone else, I detest the Philadelphia Eagles, but wow… We should have their front desk, please.
But if the Cowboys front staff had looked outside of the UFL, they may have been twice as good this season.
They simply sign some less expensive players in the hopes that things would work out for them. If it does, they will leave when they seek a larger salary.
Don’t be duped; this front office had the ability to make room if they so desired.
Until this front office appoints a true general manager or Jerry Jones gives up trying to do things his way, nothing will change.
