Breaking: Dallas On The Verge Signing 4-Time Pro Bowl RB Officially Said By Coach

The Dallas Cowboys might make a greater play for an ex-RB from the Baltimore Ravens, even though they have already made significant adjustments to their RB group. Dalvin Cook needs a new club after a dismal season with the New York Jets and Ravens; the Cowboys may be the team.

In a piece published on June 24, writer Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report discussed the potential. Knox says that in order to relieve the workload on QB Dak Prescott and the existing bunch, the Cowboys want another workhorse.

Knox added, “It would make sense to add another back into the mix because Prescott will be under a lot of pressure if the offense lacks balance.” The Cowboys should at the very least give Dalvin Cook a test drive. The four-time Pro Bowler failed to get on the field in 2023 and seemed to have lost his stride in 2022.

Knox suggests that Cook would agree to a “team-friendly” contract in order to join a contender. He claims that given that Cook played for the Jets in 2023 on a $7 million contract before joining the Ravens for the postseason, $2–3 million may be a fair offer.

Cook is a four-time Pro Bowler even though he is past his peak. It’s difficult to pass up the chance to get a player with that kind of ceiling at a reasonable cost.

Cook was one of the best running backs in the NFL while he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings. Cook, a 2017 Florida State graduate, lived up to his reputation as a second-round draft pick after moving to Minneapolis. It did, however, take him a few years to become well-known.

Cook only played four games in his debut season due to an ACL tear. Cook’s 2018 season was then hampered by a hamstring injury, resulting in just 15 games played in his first two seasons. Although the history of injuries was concerning, Pro Football Reference demonstrates Cook’s 2019 comeback.

Cook had 1135 yards of total running yardage and 13 touchdowns in 14 games, in addition to 519 receiving yards. Now that he was formally here, the 28-year-old would terrorize defenses for the next three seasons.

Up to the 2023 season, his lowest running total in 2019 was 1135 yards. He ended as a Pro Bowler each year from 2019 to 2022 and had an incredible 16 running touchdowns in 2020.

His decision to leave Minnesota did not work out, though. Cook only finished with 214 running yards and one score on 67 touches in 15 games with the Jets.

Cook had an interview with reporter Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 back in April. In the conversation, the seasoned running back shared his optimism for the 2024 campaign. Although not perfect, 2023 was not as physically demanding as earlier campaigns.

“Everything I need,” Cook declared. “These are still the tools. Last year, I didn’t really receive any repetitions. The résumé speaks for itself since the legs are still fresh. That’s me, Dalvin Cook. That man is still me. I personally dislike blowing my own trumpet. I enjoy going outside, donning my helmet, and aligning myself on the lawn.

It’s unknown if Cook gets a shot with the Cowboys or with another club. That being said, almost every NFL team need to be keeping an eye on him if he feels threatening.
