Good News: Another Hurricane Key Star Player Wins A Contract Extension.

Tony Skinn, the men’s basketball coach at George Mason, was granted a contract extension on Thursday that would last through the 2028–2029 campaign. The school did not reveal the financial conditions for Skinn, who in his debut season as head coach last season guided his alma institution to a 20-12 record. Assistant vice president and director of sports Marvin Lewis stated, “We are excited about the success our men’s basketball program accomplished on and off the court in Tony’s first season as our head coach.” “We are committed to Tony,” Lewis added. “More importantly, Tony has proven he can successfully lead our program. He has shown he can attract elite talent.” We appreciate his sincere devotion to our student-athletes and are certain that his character traits are crucial for fostering life-changing opportunities.”

Ohio State adds Tony Skinn as men's basketball assistant coach
After serving as an assistant coach at Seton Hall from 2018 to 21, Skinn, 41, worked as an assistant coach at Maryland in 2022–2023 under Kevin Willard. Skinn spent the 2021–2022 season as an assistant at Ohio State. “I want to thank Dr. (Gregory) Washington and Marvin Lewis for their unwavering support as we continue to build this program,” Skinn stated. “George Mason is very dear to me and has greatly influenced who I am now. Since this is my alma institution, I have extremely high standards for how our staff and athletes portray our college. We are eager for November because we are setting a bar of excellence in which our followers and admirers may take pride.” Between 2003 and 2006, Skinn appeared in 93 games (68 starts) for the Patriots. Under head coach Jim Larranaga, Skinn was a crucial component in George Mason’s unlikely 2006 journey to the Final Four.
