The Lakers have found some extremely well-known names in their league-wide hunt for roster improvements. Right now, DeMar DeRozan stands out the most since he has complied with his contractual need to be associated with the Lakers upon his release from the Lakers.
The most recent name to surface is Blazers wing Jerami Grant, who has also been connected to the Lakers for a considerable amount of time. His tenure with the Pistons is what sparked the Lakers’ interest in him. Even though they clearly didn’t succeed in landing him at the time, they are still after him now.
HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto claims that the Lakers have once again discussed a deal for Grant with the Blazers.
Apart from DeRozan, the Lakers are also considering Blazers forward Jerami Grant, according to league sources who spoke to HoopsHype. Over the previous two years in Portland, Grant, who is partnered with NBA players LeBron James and Anthony Davis through Klutch Sports Group, has averaged 20.7 points and shot 40.2 percent from three-point range. It’s also interesting that Grant can protect up to four places.
The Lakers would undoubtedly choose to trade for Grant. It would be quite similar to trading something only for the purpose of trading something.
There isn’t much separating Rui Hachimura and Grant, despite the fact that their numbers may not appear to be comparable at first. Last season, the former was more effective while the latter had much more opportunities and attempted ten more shots per game.
He may be a Klutch person, but that doesn’t mean he can fix the Lakers’ issues from the previous campaign. He would alter the squad dynamic and provide a little bit more scoring, but there would also be a decline in other areas.
And that’s all supposing that there is only a Hahcimura-Grant exchange. The transaction is even worse if the Lakers have any assets to attach.
