Done Deal: Texas Longhorns Confirm Committing Five-star Wide Receiver Dakorien Moore

Tomorrow night, there will be a fireworks display over Eugene, Austin, Baton Rouge, or Columbus.

Five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore of Duncanville, Texas, is expected to pledge to a college tomorrow on July 4, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3. The top wide receiver in the country will choose between Ohio State, Texas, LSU, and Oregon.

Moore had originally committed to LSU in August of last year, but in May he reopened his recruitment and broke with the Tigers. When he first started talking, Moore stated unequivocally that the Buckeyes, Ducks, Longhorns, and Tigers would compete for his recruit, and thus far, that hasn’t changed.

Moore visited all four universities his finalists on formal visits; the Longhorns hosted him in mid-June, and Oregon hosted him for his final visit.

Although the Longhorns are feeling extremely good about Moore’s decommitment from LSU, anything can happen quickly in the recruiting world. Under Brian Hartline, the Buckeyes have turned into an assembly line for NFL wide receivers, and the Ducks have just gained a lot of momentum in their recruiting class.

As with his former colleague Colin Simmons in the last cycle, there is definitely cause for hope for Steve Sarkisianand Texas with Moore going into the decision, but until the pledge is signed, sealed, and delivered, folks will be on tenterhooks.

Is it possible for Sarkisian and Texas to secure a five-star recruit from Duncanville in their next cycle? The answer won’t be known for very long. It will be little over a day until the best wide receiver prospect in the country lights up a lucky college town.
