Good News: Chicago Sky Celebrate As Their Top Veteran Key Player Named WNBA Rookie Of The Month

Chicago The WNBA announced today that Angel Reese of Sky was chosen Rookie of the Month for the month of June.

Reese put up 14.5 points and grabbed 13.2 rebounds per game on average in June. In all 11 games played in June, she pulled down double digits in rebounds, which is the second-highest streak of games in which she has ever done so. On the league standings, she presently holds the top spot for the most rebounds per game (11.4).

She also broke Candace Parker’s record in June, recording ten consecutive double-doubles and counting, the WNBA’s all-time single-season record for consecutive double-doubles.

On June 1st, against Indiana, Reese started the month with a then-career-high 13 rebounds. On June 12, she scored 20 points in a game against Connecticut, her first of the season. In a June 20 victory over Dallas, she grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds in addition to scoring 16 points. On June 23, she defeated Indiana with a career-high 25 points and 16 rebounds.

Reese joins Tina Charles (2010) and Yolanda Griffith (1999) as the only other rookies in history to average at least 13.0 points and 11.0 rebounds. She becomes the Sky’s first Rookie of the Month and only the second overall, having won the title four times in 2013 under Elena Delle Donne.
