David Kampf, a seasoned forward, may be traded by the Toronto Maple Leafs this summer.
Kampf has become the Maple Leafs’ fourth-line center and a vital penalty-killer. Columnist and former NHL player Nick Kypreos recently speculated that Kampf should be transferred out of Toronto.
Kampf, who is valued for his defensive prowess, is a costly fourth-line center option with a $2.4 million salary budget impact per season.
In goal and on the blue line, Toronto made some significant adjustments, he continues. “I think they will have to get creative to address any changes they want to make going forward,” he says, despite this.
For the last three seasons, Kampf has been a regular on the penalty kill, mostly playing defense. Although his income is an issue, those are valuable traits. In addition, he had his lowest faceoff % since joining the Leafs last season, falling to 50.9 percent.
