Shocking: Red Sox Superstar Key Player Reject Been Present In Midsummer Classic And Departed

Although Rafael Devers is expected to provide All-Star-caliber play in 2024, he will not be present in Arlington for this week’s Midsummer Classic. Red Sox manager Alex Cora explained why on Tuesday.

Cora stated, “He won’t be taking part,” according to Mass Live. He has clearly been struggling with a few issues, most notably his left shoulder. We all agree that now would be a good time for him to relax and take care of it. In the following hours, MLB will make the announcement.

Following his incredible performance against the rival New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium last weekend, Major League Baseball decided to add Devers as a reserve this week. Devers finished the weekend series with five hits and three home runs as Boston won two of the three games.

Though it’s evident that his shoulder hasn’t affected his output, the Red Sox understand that Devers’s health is more crucial going forward than whether or not he can participate in an exhibition.

It’s a credit to our medical team, Cora stated. “They work with him so well during the week. Raffy now knows how to work efficiently and maintain his health. We all think there’s more here after speaking with him. Beyond the All-Star Game, it is what we aim for. The most crucial thing is that he stays healthy. He is aware of the performance, though. He performs admirably in the weight room and the training area, staying inside the boundaries and refusing to take grounders when he doesn’t need to. He has been able to post because he is a very skilled player who understands his profession.

Devers has played in 77 games and is hitting.293 with 21 home runs and a.971 OPS. Among position players in the American League, his 3.2 bWAR places him tenth.

Devers’ spot on the American League roster will be taken by Jordan Westburg of the Baltimore Orioles at third base. In his first full season in the major leagues, Westburg is hitting.281 for the top-seeded Orioles with an OPS of.835 this season.

The Red Sox, who were primarily in the.500 range during the first half of the season, are currently 49-40 and in the running for an American League Wild Card place. Since June 3, Boston has a 19-10 record. During that span, the Sox have defeated the Yankees four times out of six and sneaked a game and a half closer against the Orioles, who have also been on fire.

Red Sox promoting touted 20-year-old prospect Rafael Devers
“He’s very quiet about it, but he loves the spotlight,” Cora remarked following the Yankees series. However, you could sense it [from Devers] right away in the dugout. In contrast to the previous two days, it seemed like the stadium was quieter today. He insisted, “Let’s go, guys, we’ve got to keep going.” We must exert ourselves. He simply hoisted us on his shoulders and carried us to the “W” at the conclusion.

That’s what Devers has done before. Against the Yankees, he has hit the most home runs in his career (28), more than any other team. Furthermore, Devers has a career as the Red Sox aim for a postseason appearance.303 batting average in postseason play and eight home runs in 26 contests.
