The Boston Celtics are emulating another NBA dynasty as they attempt to establish themselves as one.
The Athletic’s Jared Weiss revealed on Sunday that Ron Harper Jr. is joining the Celtics on an Exhibit 10 contract. The Celtics are giving Harper Jr., who participated in the Summer League for Boston this summer, a one-year veteran’s minimum deal.
Ron Harper, a five-time NBA champion, is the father of Harper Jr., a 24-year-old small forward. Known for his defense, the older Harper began his career with the Chicago Bulls, who won three titles in a row from 1996 to 1998. In 2000 and 2001, he went on to win two more NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Nonetheless, Harper Jr. appears to be making progress toward his recuperation, and he will now be a member of the Celtics, the reigning champions, who are now experiencing an intriguing summer.
