Breaking: Bruins Has Signed Another Top Experience Superstar Player To Bloc-boost Their Roster

An Original Six club has secured some organizational depth in the middle.

The Boston Bruins signed forward Marc McLaughlin to a one-year, two-way deal on Tuesday, according to a statement made by general manager Don Sweeney. Through the 2024–2025 season, the agreement has an AAV of $775,000 each season.

McLaughlin just completed a one-year contract extension with a $775,000 cap charge for the 2023–24 season. The product of North Billerica, Massachusetts, only participated in one Bruins game this season. On March 2, he scored his first NHL goal against the New York Islanders.

That has always been the case throughout McLaughlin’s professional career. At the end of his four years at Boston College, the undrafted forward earned a contract with Boston. Before joining the Providence Bruins, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Boston Bruins, for that year’s Calder Cup Playoffs, he participated in 11 games at the end of the 2021–22 season.

McLaughlin hasn’t played in quite that many games for the major league team. Ultimately, he participated in just two games with Boston in the 2022–2023 season. The former Cedar Rapids Roughrider has only appeared in 14 NHL games overall and has scored one goal.

McLaughlin has demonstrated that he can be a reliable secondary scorer in the lower leagues, recording a career-high 30 points two seasons ago with 13 goals and 17 assists. He has one goal in eight postseason games and 21 goals and 23 assists in 135 AHL matches.
