In the 2025 recruiting class, the Texas A&M Aggies still have a long list of top targets available.
Jonah Williams, a five-star safety from Ball (Galveston, Texas), could be more important than any other.
Thankfully, the Aggies won’t have to wait very long to learn of his choice.
Williams has scheduled his commitment date for August 24, according to sources from On3 on Wednesday. He will select from Texas, Oregon, Texas A&M, LSU, and USC.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Williams is now ranked No. 3 in Texas, No. 1 safety in the nation, and No. 10 player in America.
Williams was a standout player on both sides of the ball during his junior year, when he caught 20 passes for 474 yards and eight touchdowns and ran for 144 yards and two more scores. He finished with 58 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 4 interceptions as the defensive end. In addition, he returned two punts and two kicks for touchdowns and produced three pick-sixes.
Williams’ recruitment for football has been greatly influenced by his status as a prominent baseball prospect, with the Aggies being close to the top of his lists for both sports.
That being said, it is unknown how he feels about Michael Earley’s hire and Jim Schlossnagle’s resignation in reference to his hiring.
Deyjhon Pettaway, a four-star safety, has committed to the Aggies, and they are also in the race for five-star Trey McNutt. On August 3rd, McNutt will make his announcement, which might potentially influence Williams’ future path.6
