D.J. Moore intends to stay with the Bears in the long run. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the wide receiver has consented to a four-year, $110 million contract deal with the team. There are $82.6 million in guaranteed funds in the contract.
Moore’s contract extension with the Panthers until 2022 still has two years left on it, but his guaranteed money was set to run out. Moore’s contract extension keeps the veteran committed to Chicago through the 2029 campaign and guarantees him a lot more money.
It was the best possible start to Moore’s first year with the Bears. The three-time 1,000-yard receiver had the most productive season of his career after being traded from Carolina in exchange for the #1 overall selection. In spite of Justin Fields’ patchy performance (including four starts from Tyson Bagent), Moore concluded the season with career-high total touchdowns (nine), receiving yards (1,364), and catches (96).
The Bears will still rely on Moore at quarterback as Caleb Williams, the number-one overall selection, is taking over. Naturally, this did not deter the club from bolstering the roster around their franchise quarterback. This summer, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze, the ninth overall pick, were added to the roster. Even said, Moore is firmly established as the WR1, and according to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the team was ensuring Moore was happy with his deal before they included Allen’s hefty budget charge. The front staff chose to prioritize Moore above other players who were available for extensions since they weren’t “necessarily going to go in order of who’s up next for contract,” according to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin.
