Entering the 2024 season, the Minnesota Vikings aim to surpass all the odds. They have had a lot of off-field scandal, injuries, and a surprising departure of their franchise quarterback in free agency thus far this off-season.
But the Vikings have added an offensive weapon that they believe will be a diamond in the rough, as was revealed today.
Justin Hall, a receiver, was signed by Minnesota. He signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He trained with Las Vegas from the end of August 2022 until his release due to roster reductions at the end of August 2022.
Punter Seth Vernon and receiver Ty James were dismissed by Minnesota to create space on the roster for Gilmore and Hall. Vernon faced off against Ryan Wright, a third-year professional. James became an undrafted free agent this spring and signed with Minnesota.
At Ball State, Hall was one of the most explosive receivers in collegiate football. He was a dual-threat offensive weapon who could play out wide or come out of the backfield. He could also occasionally run defenders over if he was in close proximity to the end zone.
At 5 feet 9 inches and 186 pounds, Hall is smaller than the average NFL receiver and is listed on the Ball State roster.
While there are other undersized receivers in the game, Hall thinks he’s demonstrated on tape and during the draft process that he can also be a useful member of an NFL team.
It will be intriguing to watch whether the Vikings, led by Sam Darnold, can find another weapon in 2024.
