It’s just putting two and two together and all that, but this has sparked fresh rumors that Brendan Rodgers would be interested in bringing Starfelt back to the team in order to bolster his central defensive options with quality and experience, since the Celtic manager doesn’t seem to think highly of at least three of the current squad members for those vital positions.
Despite his detractors, Carl Starfelt was a proven winner who had a fantastic connection with Cameron Carter-Vickers during his tenure at Celtic. Hibs’ ability to blast any throw-in anywhere close to the Celtic penalty area into the box made the Celtic defense appear weak once more yesterday.
Brendan Rodgers mentioned yesterday that he wants to fill a few positions with quality before the window closes. The two positions that need to be prioritized are undoubtedly left back, where Greg Taylor still has no real competition in the squad, and central defense, particularly in the event that Matt O’Riley’s planned transfer to Atalanta is not going through.
The two priorities appear to be a central defender and a left back. Carl Starfelt may be a good fit for the latter?
