Miles Boykin, a former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was cut by the New York Giants from their practice squad. Boykin is a free agent, and the Steelers might be interested in adding him back to the practice squad a few days after they released him. Even though Ben Skowronek, a member of the Steelers practice squad, is someone the team likes in a special teams capacity, they still need a gunner.
Boykin, a 2019 Notre Dame player selected in the third round by the Baltimore Ravens, has been a member of the Steelers’ active roster for the past two seasons. He helped as a blocker in clear-cut run situations and was a great gunner and special teams player as well. The Steelers chose to roster six wide receivers and use Boykin in other scenarios, thus they did not use him much in clear-cut throwing situations.
But the Steelers decided to sign free players from outside this offseason rather than bring Boykin back. As a result, Boykin signed a one-year contract with the Giants and tried to make the final roster, but he was not selected.
