Shocking: Orioles Officially Announced Parting Ways With The Future Hall Of Famer, And Designating Him For Assignment.

Baltimore, Maryland (AP) – After yet another poor performance on Wednesday, the struggling Baltimore Orioles designated former closer Craig Kimbrel for assignment, raising the possibility that Kimbrel’s time with the team may be coming to an end.

In two thirds of an inning of relief work, Kimbrel allowed six runs on three hits as the Baltimore Reds lost 10-0 at home to the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. In his last 11 games this month, Kimbrel has a 13.94 ERA.

In his first year in Baltimore, Kimbrel has a 5.33 ERA and six missed saves this season. In May, he lost his position as a closer. With eight straight losses, the Orioles are now four games behind the New York Yankees for the top spot in the AL East. They called up right-hander Bryan Baker from Triple-A Norfolk in a related roster move.
