After extensive discussions about potential quarterback selections, the Las Vegas Raiders did not draft a single player for that position. However, they are signing rookie quarterback Carter Bradley from South Alabama.
Bradley, who is 24 years old and has six years of college experience, is the son of Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, a former Raiders defensive coordinator. Raiders GM Tom Telesco also has prior ties to Bradley from their time with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Throughout his college career, Bradley threw for 8,372 yards and 61 touchdowns, starting at Toledo before transferring to South Alabama. While not the flashy prospect many Raiders fans hoped for, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein notes that Bradley brings a strong football IQ and understanding of offensive schemes, though he may need to work on his mechanics and footwork to succeed at the NFL level.
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 216 pounds, Bradley isn’t particularly mobile but did show some promise in college. Despite not being expected to be drafted, his performance at the Senior Bowl helped him secure a spot with the Raiders, where he will compete for the No. 3 quarterback role.
