ESPN REPORTS: With Another Veteran Star Knicks Have Updated Their Depth Chart, Solidifying Their Lineup As They Aim For a stronger performance

As the 2024-25 NBA season approaches, the New York Knicks have bolstered their roster through free agency. The team announced on Sunday that veteran forward Marcus Morris Sr. has signed an Exhibit 9 contract after spending last season with the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Additionally, the Knicks have signed Landry Shamet to an Exhibit 9 contract, meaning both players will vie for the final roster spot. An Exhibit 9 contract is a non-guaranteed one-year deal, providing the team with flexibility in case of a serious injury to either player.

Morris, while taking on a reduced role in recent years, brings valuable experience to a young Knicks team. Last season, he averaged 6.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in about 17 minutes per game. He also had a notable postseason performance, scoring 25 points in Game 5 against the Boston Celtics.

Shamet, who played for the Washington Wizards last season, averaged 7.1 points and 1.2 assists per game. He plays a different role as a guard, so the Knicks will need to assess which player fits their needs better when making their final roster decisions.

The Knicks finished last season with a strong 50-32 record, earning the second-best standing in the Eastern Conference but falling short of the Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers. With the addition of either Morris or Shamet, New York aims to address gaps in their lineup as they seek to improve after consecutive runs to the conference semifinals.
