As the nation’s top-ranked defensive back, Pickett chose LSU over these rivals, citing a strong connection with the coaching staff, particularly cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond.
Pickett’s father, Damien, shared that the family’s focus is on ensuring DJ’s happiness, comfort, and opportunity for early playing time, all of which they believe LSU can offer. Despite continued interest from other schools, including Georgia, where Pickett recently visited for a game, LSU remains confident in retaining his commitment. The Tigers are hopeful that Pickett will stay true to his decision as the Early Signing Period approaches.
Although some expected Pickett to explore other options following the surprise decommitment of five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood from LSU, he has stayed firm in his commitment. He did not visit any other schools and plans to attend LSU’s game against Oklahoma next weekend.
Pickett wrapped up his senior season as a dual-threat star, setting county records for receiving and making a significant impact both offensively and defensively. He emphasized his pride in his accomplishments off the field and his dedication to his school and team.
