Breaking; Just Now, Coach Confirmed That Swans Land Another High Rated Superstar In Blockbuster Four-Club AFLW Trade……

The Sydney Swans have successfully secured Essendon defender Ash Van Loon and pick 51 in a complex four-club trade involving Port Adelaide, Brisbane, and Essendon. The trade, finalized on Wednesday, saw all four teams exchange players and draft picks in preparation for the upcoming AFLW National Draft.

As part of the deal, Port Adelaide received Sydney Swans defender Ella Heads. Heads, a product of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy, has been a key contributor to the team since making her AFLW debut in 2022. She played 33 matches for the Swans and was instrumental in the club’s foundation years.

Sydney Swans AFLW Senior Coach Scott Gowans expressed gratitude for Heads’ contributions to the club.

“Ella was a QBE Academy graduate and one of our foundation players,” Gowans said. “She played a vital role in establishing our team, and while we are disappointed to see her leave, we respect her decision for a change and thank her sincerely for everything she has done for the Swans.”

In exchange, Sydney welcomed Ash Van Loon from Essendon. Van Loon, who debuted in 2022, has played 26 matches for Essendon’s AFLW side. The addition of the versatile defender bolsters Sydney’s squad as they continue to build for the future.

The trade, completed earlier in the day, included a series of player and pick swaps:

Sydney Swans:

Gave up: Ella Heads, pick 40

Received: Ash Van Loon, pick 51

Essendon:

Gave up: Ash Van Loon, pick 47

Received: pick 35

Brisbane Lions:

Gave up: picks 17, 35, and 53

Received: picks 15 and 39

Port Adelaide:

Gave up: picks 15, 39, and 51

Received: Ella Heads and picks 17, 40, 47, and 53.

The trade reflects the evolving strategies of each club as they position themselves for success in the AFLW. Sydney’s acquisition of Van Loon provides valuable defensive experience, while Port Adelaide gains an established player in Heads and additional draft capital.

The Swans are optimistic about their future with Van Loon’s addition, aiming to strengthen their defensive lineup heading into the next AFLW season. Meanwhile, Heads moves on to Port Adelaide, where she will likely continue her impressive AFLW career.
