Good News; Coach Barry Odom Confirmed A Wonderful Performance From A Star Player That Shines As No. 11 Purdue Dominates No. 21 Michigan In A 91-64 Blowout

In a commanding performance on January 24, 2025, the 11th-ranked Purdue Boilermakers triumphed over the 21st-ranked Michigan Wolverines with a score of 91-64. Sophomore guard Braden Smith led the team with 24 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, and four steals, narrowly missing a triple-double.

Smith’s impressive play was complemented by guard Fletcher Loyer, who contributed 18 points, including five three-pointers. Forward Trey Kaufman-Renn added 15 points, and guard C.J. Cox scored 11 points. Purdue’s offense was particularly effective in the first half, achieving a 57.6% shooting rate and establishing a 51-26 lead by halftime.

Michigan struggled throughout the game, committing 22 turnovers and shooting only 1-for-16 from three-point range in the first half. Center Vladislav Goldin led the Wolverines with 14 points, while guards Nimari Burnett, Jaelin Llewellyn, and Roddy Gayle Jr. each contributed 11 points. Despite efforts to reduce the deficit, Michigan was unable to pose a significant threat to Purdue’s lead.

This victory improved Purdue’s season record to 16-5 overall and 8-2 in the Big Ten Conference. The Boilermakers’ dominant performance served as a strong response following their first home loss of the season to Ohio State earlier in the week.
