Fresh News; Just Now Details Has Been Revealed How Age 1990’s. Are Leading Securing 300 Court Hard Win With Grigor Dimitrov Leading And…
Daniil Medvedev notched his 300th career hard-court match win by cruising past Zizou Bergs 6-2, 6-1 in the second round of the Qatar Open. This achievement makes Medvedev only the second male player born in 1990 or later to reach this milestone, joining Grigor Dimitrov.
The Russian looked far more assured against the Belgian than in his challenging three-set opener against fellow countryman Karen Khachanov. Medvedev’s dominant performance in Doha highlights his comfort on hard courts, a surface where he has built much of his career success.
Medvedev’s 300 victories put him alongside Dimitrov, who leads this age group with 312 hard-court wins. Currently ranked World No. 6, Medvedev has consistently excelled on the surface, boasting a 74% win rate—significantly higher than his 67% on grass and 55% on clay.
Since securing his first hard-court win in 2016 against Alexander Bublik at the St. Petersburg Open, Medvedev’s rise has been impressive. In 2018, he led the ATP tour with 38 hard-court wins and matched Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Khachanov with three titles on the surface. The following year, Medvedev reached six consecutive hard-court finals, winning titles in Washington, Cincinnati, St. Petersburg, and Shanghai.
Medvedev’s prowess on hard courts is further underscored by his Grand Slam record. All six of his major finals have been on hard courts, including his triumph at the 2021 US Open. In contrast, he has never progressed past the semifinals at Wimbledon and only reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros.
Reflecting on his drive to compete, Medvedev said, “Competition is a drug. Competition is adrenaline. It’s my life. I love it.” He emphasized how competition extends into all aspects of his life, from video games to lighthearted arguments with his wife.
Behind Medvedev and Dimitrov in the hard-court win rankings are Alexander Zverev (281 wins), Milos Raonic (264 wins), and Andrey Rublev (244 wins). David Goffin (221) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (210) also feature in the top ranks. Notably, Kei Nishikori, with over 300 hard-court wins, narrowly misses inclusion due to being born just days before 1990.
Looking ahead, Medvedev will face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Qatar Open quarterfinals. While the Canadian won their last encounter on clay, Medvedev holds a 6-1 record in their head-to-head meetings—all of his victories coming on hard courts.
Medvedev’s remarkable milestone not only underscores his dominance on hard surfaces but also sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting clash in Doha.
