Breaking: Another High Rated Player Has Sign A deal With Dallas Mavericks For $70 million

The star of the Warriors offers an unexpected perspective on Thompson leaving Golden State.

Less than a month has passed since the Dallas Mavericks decided to sign Klay Thompson to a three-year, $50 million contract. Warriors regulars like Draymond Green and Stephen Curry have needed some time to adjust to Thompson’s absence from the Bay Area.

In a recent joint podcast with Jeff Teague, Green said something unexpected regarding Thompson’s departure: he’s glad the sharpshooter is no longer with the team. “I’m overjoyed that he’s gone. He wasn’t happy anymore, which is why I’m glad he’s gone. I simply want what’s best for you as a brother—not what’s best for me or this team.”

Draymond Green was initially quite upset about Thompson leaving the Golden State, devoting a significant amount of time on his podcast to the topic. He is now content that Thompson feels valued in Dallas and has accepted his leaving.

Warriors' Steve Kerr laments Klay Thompson's departure
As a member of Golden State’s dynastic run in the late 2010s, Thompson and Green won four titles, with a victory against the Boston Celtics in 2022 completing it all. Although it was hoped that they would all play their whole careers with Stephen Curry and the Warriors, Thompson never felt like a top priority in the negotiating process due to their executive staff.

Thompson shot almost 39% from three-point range last season and averaged over 17 points per game despite undergoing two major operations. He ought to provide Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic excellent spacing. The Mavericks are adamant that Thompson is the piece they’ve been missing to win an NBA title.
