The New York Knicks expressed interest in Landry Shamet this summer, and the two parties have already agreed to a one-year contract. Although the Knicks don’t have a pressing need for guard depth, the NBA always needs players who can shoot and score. The 27-year-old guard has an amazing three-point shot and can contribute some scoring off the bench. He averaged 7.1 points per game with a dismal 55.6% True Shooting% for a poor Wizards team last season, primarily coming off the bench.

The news was initially reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, which sparks an intriguing discussion about the Knicks’ plans for its guards.

With an average of 4.9 attempts from downtown and a 38.4% success percentage over his NBA career, Landry Shamet gives the Knicks extra shooting depth off their bench. Since the Knicks were so wounded at the close of the previous season, depth has become more crucial than ever. If this team chooses to hold onto Shamet, he may be a very valuable weapon.

Although Donte DiVincenzo can score points, the bench is lacking in scoring depth. Landry Shamet, on the other hand, can provide additional choices to draw attention to that side of the ball. The team’s anticipated backup point guard, Miles McBride, put in a ton of big minutes the previous year, and rookie point guard Tyler Kolek excelled in the Summer League.
