Ward was placed on waivers by the Kings on Friday, as reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
He signed a two-way contract with Los Angeles in May and will likely be assigned to the minors if he goes unclaimed. The 26-year-old has yet to make his NHL debut and is expected to spend most, if not the entire season, in the minor leagues
