CJ Donaldson Jr., a 6-foot-2, 238-pound running back from Miami, Florida, has transferred from West Virginia University (WVU) to Ohio State University (OSU) for the 2025 football season.

During his tenure at WVU from 2022 to 2024, Donaldson accumulated 2,058 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns on 421 carries, averaging 4.9 yards per attempt. In the 2023 season, he recorded 798 yards on 171 carries (4.7 yards per attempt) with 11 touchdowns, followed by 734 yards on 163 carries (4.5 yards per attempt) and 11 touchdowns in 2024.

Originally recruited as a tight end, Donaldson transitioned to running back during preseason training at WVU. His versatility and performance have been notable, especially considering his initial position as a tight end prospect out of high school.

At Ohio State, Donaldson is expected to provide veteran depth to the running back corps, particularly with the anticipated departures of senior TreVeyon Henderson and potential NFL draft candidate Quinshon Judkins. His experience and proven track record are anticipated to be valuable assets for the Buckeyes in the upcoming season.

Donaldson’s commitment to Ohio State was officially announced on December 23, 2024. His addition is part of Ohio State’s strategy to bolster their offensive lineup for the 2025 season, aiming to maintain their competitive edge in collegiate football.

In summary, CJ Donaldson Jr.’s transfer to Ohio State brings a combination of experience, versatility, and proven performance to the Buckeyes’ backfield, positioning him as a significant contributor for the team’s 2025 campaign.
