Breaking; Just Now Michigan State Poised to Land Elite Transfer OT  Five-star Player, Beating Out Ohio State

 

The Michigan State Spartans recently hosted one of the top offensive tackles in the FCS, Conner Moore, and it appears their recruitment efforts are paying off. According to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer, Moore, an All-American from Montana State, has canceled his scheduled visit to Ohio State, signaling strong interest in the Spartans.

Moore was in attendance for a Michigan State basketball game against Washington, an experience that may have played a role in swaying his decision. Since entering the transfer portal on January 7, he has been one of the most sought-after linemen. Ranked as a four-star transfer by 247Sports, the 6-foot-5, 310-pound tackle is considered the No. 108 overall prospect and the No. 10 offensive tackle in the portal.

The fact that Moore is passing up a visit to Ohio State—one of college football’s premier programs—is a significant development. The Buckeyes, who are preparing for the national championship against Notre Dame, have one of the most well-funded NIL collectives in the country. Their ability to attract top talent is well-documented, making Michigan State’s progress in landing Moore even more impressive.

For the Spartans, winning in the transfer portal is just as critical as high school recruiting. Landing Moore, especially over a powerhouse like Ohio State, would be a major statement. It would be similar in impact to Michigan State flipping four-star running back Jace Clarizio from Alabama during the early signing period.

Head coach Jonathan Smith emphasized the importance of recruiting success:

“I think it shows we can compete at the highest level,” Smith said. “Some of these guys had major options, yet they chose us. That speaks volumes about where this program is heading.”
