Sad; Finally, Despite his strong ties to San Diego, where he had a successful season and even started in the All-Star Game

Jurickson Profar, who recently signed a three-year, $42 million deal with the Atlanta Braves, revealed that while both the Braves and Padres were his top choices, San Diego never came close to making a serious offer. Profar cited ongoing ownership issues with the Padres as a major factor in his decision to leave.

Despite his strong ties to San Diego, where he had a successful season and even started in the All-Star Game, Profar felt the Braves’ general manager, Alex Anthopoulos, showed much greater enthusiasm in acquiring him. This confidence boost played a key role in his decision.

Meanwhile, the Padres have seen several free agents depart and have yet to make significant roster additions. Their offseason has been clouded by financial constraints and ownership disputes, including a legal battle over control of the franchise.

Though leaving was difficult, Profar expressed gratitude to Padres fans and the organization, acknowledging their support and the memorable moments he had at Petco Park.
