Good News; Steelers Confirmed  Reload Mock Draft Projects Dynamic QB-WR Duo And Defensive Reinforcement

The Pittsburgh Steelers are actively seeking reinforcements at both quarterback and wide receiver for the upcoming season. A recent three-round mock draft by Ian Valentino of The 33rd Team suggests the Steelers could address both needs while also adding a key defensive piece.

Round 1: Matthew Golden, WR, Texas (Pick 21)

With the 21st overall pick, the Steelers select Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden. Golden has frequently been linked to Pittsburgh as a late-first-round talent who fills a crucial need. Known for his speed and ability to make plays on vertical routes, he has quickly risen up draft boards.

“Golden’s quick rise is attributed to his speed and his growing ability to make catches on vertical routes, positioning him well for a first-round draft pick,” writes Valentino.

While Pittsburgh has been rumored to have interest in quarterbacks Jaxson Dart and Jalen Milroe, the team may instead opt to bring back Justin Fields or pursue a veteran signal-caller while strengthening the roster around them.

Round 2: Darius Alexander, EDGE, Toledo (Pick 52)

In the second round, the Steelers shift their focus to defense, selecting Darius Alexander, an edge rusher from Toledo. Pittsburgh has a history of targeting standout players from the Mid-American Conference (MAC), and Alexander could be the next to make an impact in black and gold.

Round 3: Will Howard, QB, Ohio State (Pick 83)

To round out the draft, the Steelers select Will Howard, a quarterback from Ohio State, with the 83rd overall pick. This isn’t the first time Howard has been linked to Pittsburgh, and it likely won’t be the last. The team is expected to pursue a mid-round quarterback, and if the National Champion is available at this spot, he could be an easy choice.

Howard’s role in Pittsburgh will largely depend on how the Steelers address the quarterback position before the season. If they bring back Justin Fields or acquire a veteran like Aaron Rodgers, Howard could serve as a backup and developmental prospect. However, if the team opts for a long-term plan, Howard and Golden could form a promising quarterback-wide receiver duo for the future.

As the draft approaches, the Steelers remain one of the most intriguing teams to watch, with several key decisions that could shape their 2025 season and beyond.
